Biography
Dr. Tamer Aboualy is the IBM MEA (Middle East and Africa) Security Services CTO (Chief Technology Officer). He is an IT Security and Information Risk Management executive with over 12 years’ experience in the Information Security and Risk Management domain and 18 years’ experience in Information Technology.

Tamer is currently responsible for leading the IBM MEA Security Services Practice. His team consists of IBM security consultants who provide solutions and consulting services that range from ERS (emergency response services), GRC (governance risk and compliance), security architecture, data security, and SOC’s (security operation centers).

Prior to his current post in IBM MEA Tamer served as the IBM Canada Security Services CTO and was responsible for leading the delivery of complex managed security services to Canada’s largest governments, financial institutions, telecommunications corporations, and other industries. Additionally Tamer was responsible for IBM Canada’s security architecture and strategy group which provided the innovation and vision that drove customer solutions.

Dr. Tamer Aboualy is an active security practitioner and has presented multiple times at ISACA SA, IDC, MENA, VISA, GOVTECH South Africa, the Canadian Bankers Association, and government security events around the world. He holds multiple security patents relating to Next Generation SIEM’s (security incident event management systems), IPSs (Intrusion Prevention Systems), and Cloud Security Crypto. His education includes a Ph.D in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University in Florida USA, Masters of Science in Telecommunications and Networks Management from Syracuse University in New York USA, and Bachelors of Information Systems from Ryerson University in Toronto Canada.
