Biography
John Midgley serves top-management clients in the global defense and intelligence communities as they address complex strategy and policy issues. He is currently based in Riyadh. Jack was based in Tokyo from 2013 – mid-2017 focusing on the challenges confronting Japan’s rapidly-evolving Ministry of Defense and other defense ministries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Named as one of Deloitte’s “Top 10 Global Opinion Leaders”, Jack leads development of Deloitte’s widely-covered annual Global Defense Outlook and Asia-Pacific Defense Outlook, and he created Deloitte’s global Cyber Vulnerability Index.
Dr. Midgley holds a Ph.D. in political science (Defense Policy and Arms Control) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the M.P.P. from Harvard University and a B.S. in engineering from West Point, and is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. He was a senior civilian advisor to GEN David Petraeus in Afghanistan. During active commissioned service in the US Army, Jack commanded Troop I of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and served on the Army Staff, the Plans Directorate (J-5) of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the US Mission to NATO.
